The wheels finally fell off the Kilve 2nds steam train this week…

Kilve were put into bat with Head and Darrell opening but runs were hard to come by and with Cuffy at number three also unable to trouble the scorer too much it was 21 for 3 and all was gloom on the terraces!

But decent knocks from Girling, Dr Sefton and Rees took the score to 118 for 6. The tail wagged a bit but with the help of a monster wides total (49 in all, we nearly got to clap it) a defendable score of 177 was recorded.

After a top tea from James and Taylor’s better halves, Chard started on a bit of a charge and reached nearly 70 after 10 overs. James snr and Girling managed to slow them down a bit and take a couple of wickets but it was too little too late. James jr bowled tightly once again but it was in vain as the score was passed with nearly 10 overs to spare.

First defeat, but we are still top and only a few points behind lasts seasons total, so if we don’t win again all year we have still improved.
