For the first time this season, Rock won the toss and put Kilve in to bat. With his opening partner Will Monro having been promoted to the 1st XI, the responsibility was on Jay Darrell to take the attack to Ilmister which he duly did, smacking the 2nd delivery of the day for 6 followed by a succession of 4s before he steadily progressed to his first 50 before being caught going for another six! A great knock – well done Jay.

Meanwhile, Hancock steadily accumilated runs at the other end until he was out for the 2nd successive week leg before for 32.

Rock them came to the crease, hitting a rapid 59. Marchent’s departure for 4 brought Chris Blazey to the crease and hopes were high of Rock and Blazey improving on their highest partnership this year of 0 but the next ball, Rock danced down the wicked to a painfully slow full toss and was caught in the deep. Chris Blazey and Dave Robinson then saw Kilve’s inning through to an impressive 223-6,  Kilve 2nd XI’s highest score for many a year!

Once Girling had bowled danger man Knight for 10, and Marchent had dismissed the other opener Brunt, the Ilminster reply, whilst stubborn at times never looked like threatening the Kilve total. Kilve finally dismissed Ilminster in the 41st over for 163 with Girling the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets.

Well done guys, keep it up!
